A Day at the Museum

We spent Thursday in Salem at AC Gilbert Discovery Village. It is a collection of three houses in which each room is a fantastic exploration of time, culture, science, or substance.

Serious inspiration for the kids rooms (not China, but the platform/shelter, and the elaborate decoration of space).

Erik climbing inside a giant erector set (invention of A.C. Gilbert).
My sweet nieces making marvelous creations in the “Recycling Toy Inventor’s Room”.

Climbing around the humongous outdoor playground, complete with a life-sized dino dig and a giant-sized animal cell to walk around in.

I think my favorite part was when the kids decided to mount a full production of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. It was delightful. They performed on a real stage with costumes and everything.

What's wrong with China. I'd love that setup. Especially if it had dragons and fireworks and some authentic chinese food. Mmmmmm, now I'm hungry.

The room was awesome, the entire museum is just so fun! We had a great time with you Thursday. Even though the theatre room had transformed from a castle to a jungle, we were still able to imagine out that silly play. Thanks so much for coming with us!! BAAAA!
