My Subconscious Plate

Sometimes I think I put too much on my subconscious plate.  For instance this stack of books has been sitting on my nightstand for a month, virtually untouched, but nevertheless reminding me of all the things I’m not doing something about right this minute.

Too much?  Yeah, I think so, too.

I think the lamp has the right attitude: casual stance, body relaxed with the mass seeking its natural position on the torso, shade tipped back, just a touch of sun getting under the bill, a big smile with arms crossed, and just enjoying the spring breeze. Oh, man! This calls for a chocolate shake. Everybody to the BMW(big Mormon wagon).

My solution to a stack like that is to just hide the stack after a "reasonable" amount of time, then you can't be reminded of all the things you want to do but don't manage to have time to do. The reasonable amount of time depends on how tall the stack is. If it is a shallow stack it can stay there a while, but once it reaches the height like you have it definitely gets hidden ASAP. Sometimes I just move it to Dad's stack and then I feel much better. It is like a huge load is lifted off my back!

I think the best solution is to make your nightstand too small to support a stack like that. Having all that right beside you all night is keeping you from getting the sound sleep you need. Feng Shui sister!
